So last night I was lying on the couch snacking on prunes (Oh lord, I really am the oldest fart of my age!) reading "Smoke and Mirrors" by Neil Gaiman, which is one of his short story anthologies.

I think I'm actually obsessed with this guy now. His imagination is unparalleled. I came across a story called "The Sweeper of Dreams" and it did something to me. For the first time in a long...well, ever... I tried to memorize this story verbatim. I think my flatmate (see! Gaiman's got me speaking like an englishman) thought I was a little bit loony. But, so it is.

Only fiction can make me do something like that.

  1. Speaking of imaginations—your book, Masters of the Veil, continues to blow me away. Good job Dan, but yeah you might want to reconsider those prunes. :)

  3. oh. my. goodness. you don't really like them do you!??!? (the prunes that is)
the thing for me about gaiman- excepting his undeniable sexiness- is the way he strings words together in the most beautiful combinations and cadences imaginable. the words themselves are like a song or a bedtime story. they roll off the tongue with a musical, captivating, magical quality that entrances me... makes me convinced that magic is not only real, it's palpable and surrounding me, and i can taste it if i just focus. he just makes his world and characters so freakin' real. so freakin' enchanting. the man... that man... just- wow. i'm glad you love him too! have you heard this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jsmruSXkyE&feature=related

    1. Alas, prunes are my jam. Hmm. Maybe they make prune jam?

First off. DAMN GIRL you can write!!! And I agree with literally everything you said about Gaiman, me just no can do english as fine as that is.

You summed it up to perfection.

And on the writing note. Are you a novelist as well, or only an A++ graphic designer?
