So to be completely honest, I've had a blog before.
Ever since my first book was published in 2010, I was bombarded with the advice that a blog would be an easy way to reach out to readers and sell books. And like a chump, ready to hang with the big boys, I believed them.
So I did what everyone said, and created one, and put up lazy posts once in a while.
... and hated it.
I was blogging for the wrong reasons. I didn't care for my blog. It was just an impersonal webpage that I created just to say that I created it. Blogging to me was a chore; and a futile one at that.
Then I realized the simple truth:
That's not even close to what blogging is for.
Blogging (book blogging in particular) is for sharing your love of the craft. I look at my friend Melissa's blog (iswimforoceans.com), and my friends Jenny's blog (supernaturalsnark.blogspot.com) and I see that they truly love sharing their passion for books. They work tirelessly to maintain a sort of virtual home-base for people to check in on. They entertain, inform, and initiate discussion on what we all can't get enough of: Fiction
I was wrong and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Blogging is for further your love of books, not for furthering your bank account.
I realize this now, so I'm going to do my very best to treat this blog with the respect and zeal that it deserves.
It aint gonna be easy, but it'll be worth it. So with that said, I'm going to be the first to welcome myself to the real blogging world.
Welcome, Dan.
Please don't be a chump this time around.
Yay! *applauds*
